Here are two big mixtapes commemorating the twentieth anniversary of De La Soul’s rock solid career, which kicked off with the release of the seminal classic 3 Feet High and Rising* in 1989.

The first mixtape comes to us from Quebec’s own DJ Manifest.  It’s a nice collection of some of De La’s greatest hits.  Download it and get to reminiscing already.  De La Soul: The Train of Thought (direct download link).

This next mix, courtesy of Mick Boogie and Terry Urban, is actually not just your standard mixtape.  Its a bona fide tribute project.  Le Da Soul: 20 Years of De La Soul is a compilation of reimagined De La classics, covers, and tribute tracks by a bevy of  underground hip hop’s brighter stars.  If you didn’t already cop this elsewhere, you should get it here now. Enjoy.

* De La Soul sampled the song “Bra” (first song on the previously posted Cymande mixtape) for 3 feet High and Rising’s “Change in Speak.”

  1. And if you’re feeling that Mick Boogie mixtape, dude is in town tonight for a collab show with Peoples Republic of Clothing at the Baltic Room. Not sure all the details, but it is what it is.

  2. Anybody heard that new song on the radio yet by some R&B singer that remixes De La’s “Ring Ring Ring”?? I hope De La got broken off for that.
