If you’re not already knowing, Seattle’s blipster rap stars They Live! dropped a fire-red LP that’s so 2010 it’s free. It’s full of quality bangers, a few odd placed interludes/skits, and a gang of throwback gems that journey back to the days of early ’90s R&B. Alright, so they’re only 2/3rds blipsters but you get my drift. They came out of the city’s party rap scene but show a hell of a lot more creativity when it comes to crafting songs than most people do, period. MC/producer Bruce Illest goes in when it comes to oddball yet catchy production and Larry Mizell Jr is so West Coast with his rhymes that it’s ridiculous.

Their debut full length is called They La Soul and it features their newest vocalist, Janae Jones.  You’ll hear her on “Serve You” and various other cuts. Don’t let the artwork scare you by the way.

Didn’t I mention the whole project is free? Go here for the gift of music. You can download the whole thing or stream it at your leisure. I sort of get the feeling that free albums are really just extended promo opportunities and that they’ll be releasing something that actually costs money in the future. But for now, get it in and enjoy.
