Lushlife, aka Raj Haldar, is not your typical hip hop cat.  He pushes the envelope and your perception of what hip hop should sound and look like.  I’m not a diehard fan, but he’s been winning me over as of late and I like that he makes me question my preconceptions of what hip hop is/has become.  I also really like this track – a refix of Atlanta band Washed Out’s single “Feel It All Around.”

This song is definitely not as “out there” as some of his other tracks, but it still has that next-generation hip hop sound to it.  The spacey synth loop goes perfectly with Lushlife’s nonstop Illadelph flow.  It’s almost reminiscent of a young Black Thought or, dare I say, Nas circa Illmatic
