In response to all of this fuckery, my guy Brainstorm of Dyme Def has come out with a mini diss track toward the Seattle Police Department. If you didn’t already know, Seattle police officer Ian Walsh recently cold-cocked a 17 year old girl in the face over a jaywalking citation and it made national news. So today, Brainstorm dropped a track called “Lose My Mind (Fuck Ian Walsh)” that, among other things, wishes for all the cops on the Seattle PD to catch an STD.

The whole song doesn’t lambaste the boys in blue, but he definitely dings ‘em in some hilarious ways. Check out the track here, which I’m posting as a Usershare file now in the interest of time. Hopefully we’ll have a direct-play feature up soon.

Bilal‘s first album in 9 years, Airtight’s Revenge, is set for release on September 14th via Plug Research.  Some blogs are saying that this track will not be on the new album, but some blogs are saying that it will be.  At this point, I don’t think it really matters.  Its free and on the internet.  Just enjoy this shit.  It’s smooth.  Props to Nottz for the production.  I’m definitely feeling this more than the Bilal/Shafiq Husayn collabo that Nottz produced for Shafiq’s LP, Shafiq En’ A-Free-Ka.  Just sayin.

You may have noticed that I’ve been conspicuously absent from LxNxM for a little while now.  Or maybe not.   Either way, I’m gonna tell you where I’ve been (mostly because I like to think you care, but also because it goes well with the theme of this mix I’m about to show you).  I’ve been barbecuing.  That’s right, barbecuing.  As a matter of fact, I just hosted one of the best barbecues that I’ve ever held.  Not least because the LxNxM family was in full effect, but also because of the menu, which included not just ribs, chicken and shrimp, but also anticuchos de corazon.  For those of y’all that don’t know what anticuchos de corazon are, allow me to explain:  skewers of beef heart meat marinated and grilled to perfection.  Read more about them here and be jealous.

Anyway, back to this mix.  New York producer Veterano just put together this body rockin blend of soulful party cuts for you to blast on your ipod dock at your next barbecue.  Aptly titled Barbecue Blends Vol. 1, this mix is brought to you by the good people at Alias Clothing and 2dopeboyz and includes a slew of classic, feel good jams from the likes of Funkadelic, Tina Marie, Evelyn King, Chaka Khan, New Edition and Michael Jackson, just to name a few.  This mix was made for you to press play and walk away.  All you will have to worry about is not burning the anticuhos – no one likes burnt anticuchos.

Surprisingly, one of the metro areas that hasn’t gotten a ton of love from LxNxM is the Bay. Which is weird, because dammit, we love the Bay. Between family and friends it feels like a second home at times.

So with that, enjoy/download some of the Bay’s finest (no, not that, homie). A couple months back, Panama/Oakland future sounders Los Rakas dropped a free album of sorts – cleverly titled Free Music 2010. If you haven’t checked for it yet, now is as good a time as any. The selection ranges from neo-hyphy explorations to nearly digi-dancehall tracks, and drifts from English to Spanish and back again seamlessly.

The video for internet leak/single “Soy Raka” also dropped recently. Check the video and grab the free download below the jump. Brrrrap!

I’ve always had a sort of musical crush on my old school Detroit homie RiRi Garcia. She’s the type of person that’s probably one of the most talented musicians standing in the room but rarely let’s on to all of the skills she’s got tucked in her knapsack. She can sing, drum, act, DJ, produce tracks and is just one of those badass females who’s learned to tap into her true power and let her light shine.

These days, she’s living in New York and focusing a bit more on the Afro/Latino (Puerto Rican to be exact) part of her music heritage. To get a better feel for her original productions… which tie in everything from experimental house to channeling orishas on wax, I’d recommend hitting her MySpace where she’s making some incredible music under the name DJ Rimarkable. For a taste of how she DJs and the music she’s into, listen to the Soundcloud below. It’s full of good sounds to help keep bad energy at bay.

We live in an era where things are maxed out at every opportunity. Super size. Go big or go home. Largest oil spill in US history. Etc. Which is why the name Mr. OK stands out. OK denotes understatement, it suggests a calm confidence that doesn’t require a desparate cry for attention. And that’s why it’s such an interesting choice for a rising emcee.

Okay? Okay. Why not?

Mr. OK is indeed an emcee, originally from Haiti and now residing in Montreal. OK is a signee to the brand new label (and longtime blog) Masalacism. Dude raps in French, but over bouncy bassy tracks that push it well out of that dangerous MC Solaar territory. Throw together an as-yet-untouched sound connection (or so it would appear, though I’m sure Diplo’s all Haitian/Montreal mix will be coming out sound) and you’ve got something that is far more than simply okay.

OK’s brand new EP just dropped, and you can buy that ish right here. In the meantime, check out the lead single “Yaya,” which features LaRose, and get the free download right here.

And because it’s really a good night, here’s a recent Ghetto Palms that was totally focused on Mr. OK and Masalacism. Download it here. Pow!

noted mixtape master and music-genre devouring dude chrissy murderbot is dropping an ep of classics with the murderbot touch. he’s putting out sleazetone party trax #1 sometime this month, featuring remixes of tracks from the likes of the b-52s and donna summer “in a style that bridges the gap between juke, bassline, and classic rave”. as a noted ignoramus and dilettante, i have no idea what that means. peep his remix of bell biv devoe’s classic cut “poison” below, which is my favorite track on the ep. no release date besides june 2010, so check sleazetone’s page for details on when it drops.

in other chrissy murderbot news, he finished his year of mixtapes project a couple weeks back (with a really stellar boogie mix you should consider downloading), and is keeping the site open for future mixtapes, like this nice digi-dancehall mixtape he posted yesterday. stream it below, and go download it from the man’s site here.
