Daaaaang… it’s the last day of summer, y’all!  Glad the sun came out to show some love today here in Seatown.  But still, if you’re at all like me, you probably wouldn’t mind a little more warmth in the days to come.  So, here’s Fatima‘s recently released video for “Warm Eyes,” from her March 2010 EP on Eglo RecordsMind Travellin’.   This song has that warm, mellowed-out, last days of summer kinda feel, and its produced by noneother than the funkiest gangster in all of Los Angeles, Dam-Funk.  Enjoy, amigos.

UK’s kidkanevil comes through with an appropriately spaced-out video for the track “Yokai.”  The song is from his January 2010 album, Basho Basho, which he will be releasing a remix version of in the very near future.  In fact, he just released a lil’ EP to whet your palate for what’s to come.  Keep your eye’s peeled for the Basho Basho Remixed Remixed album – the album so nice they had to name it twice – and in the meantime, enjoy the EP via Bandcamp below.  I especially like the Tokimonsta remix of “Megajoy.”

When the duo of Lex One and Mike Beatz headed to London a year ago, it was a toss up if they’d actually survive the myriad world of late night club culture in that town and emerge with a sound of their own. Sure enough, they did, but not by trying to emulate a bloody thing happening in England and instead they imported their crazy ass South Florida swag (Broward County stand up) into everything that they do. They’re now going by the name Wizard Sleeve, and with producer Pusher FM in the mix, they’re a crazy crew of hip-hop/club/fidgethouse junkies that are making themselves famous one mixtape at a time.

This is their latest offering, Gangsta Bass in the Big Smoke, and it actually rides hard. The concept here is that they’re rapping over commercial beats that are played on UK radio…be it regular radio or pirate shit, but they’re essentially making a statement that UK radio is far better than the hot garbage we get here in the U.S. So you’ll hear the crew rapping over everything from Tinie Tempah’s anthemic “Pass Out” joint to Rusko’s “Hold On” and making it all sound like one crazy ass night out on the town in the process. The entire thing was mixed by Black Noise. Dive in below if you’re ready… full tracklist after the jump.

The last time I was getting lined up by my favorite neighborhood barber SPAC3MAN, he told me that he’d recently shot a music video directed by the one and only Wes Goodlife. I’m a big fan of Wes Goodlife’s work and was eager to see how it would turn out. Having worked on the set with Goodlife various times, I know he’s best at capturing an artist’s individual energy and bringing it to life so people can almost feel it. That’s exactly what he did with SPAC3Man for this “Intro 40 Freestyle video” in which viewers are practically sitting on the front porch with SPAC3 and his peoples. This isn’t meant to be a major music video or something large, just a smart viral joint to keep both of these guys names in the street. And it’s a banger for sure.

This is very much SPAC3MAN in his element, hanging with his fam (literally) and folks from around the way while rapping over a killer Just Blaze beat. Check it. And dive into the entire free mixtape if you’re intrigued.

This show just keeps getting better, and now we have a poster to go with it. Filthy. Courtesy of Radjaw.

LxNxM’s own selectors Toast & Tang will be holding down duties on the ones and twos, and when you combine those ingredients, you’re going to get something delicious.

This video makes me long for summertime in D.C. And homecoming season at Howard, Bowie State, and all the HBCU’s in the DMV area. This song is called, “The Work,” and it’s off of Wale’s More About Nothing project. Why is everyone shouting out Larry Hoover and Big Meech though?

I’ve been saying for awhile now on this blog that Miz Korona is the truth. Novice Detroit hip-hop fans might recognize her as the woman that battled Xzibit in the movie 8 Mile but she’s done a heck of a lot more with her music since that cameo. Her lyrical style is all strong-arm Detroit shit verse after verse but she’s sweet as pie in person. Get to know her if you’re unfamiliar. And support her most recent release, The Injection, which dropped over the summer.

Check out a quick interviewwith Miz Korona talking about The Injection with yours truly below the jump. Read the rest of this entry »
