feeling bummed about the election results from last night? need some good news? well, did you know that stones throw-ers aloe blacc and mayer hawthorne are playing the emerald city this weekend? say what you will about our fucked political-corporate-media clusterfuck landscape, but good music will cure most any blues. aloe blacc will be at fremont’s nectar lounge this friday (11/5) with maya jupiter and dj 100proof, and tickets can be had here for only $10. soul singer extraordinaire mayer hawthorne (and backing band the county) will be at neumo’s on sunday (11/7). friends of LxNxM gordon voidwell are opening things up. Damn Seattle, I know our weather isn’t the greatest, but we need a party like this during the warmer months. Here’s some recent video footage of the homie Aloe Blacc performing at the Do-Over soiree in Los Angeles. Since Aloe is one of the key organizers of that monthly party, it only makes sense that he’d get to rock out and perform his signature jam of the moment, “I Need a Dollar.” Seattle promoters, let’s get something like this going in 2011 please.
