No, this has nothing to do with Justin Timberlake. So chill out, man.

Christopher Birch (left), best known for his work with reggae megastar Shaggy and often regarded as one of the best producers in the dancehall game, just released this monster of a riddim. It’s synthy and hypnotic – a simple yet deadly combination. Although Busy and Vybz have already had their way with this tune, I have a feeling that more heavyweights are going to want to take their turn before the year’s end. Peep the sampler below. I don’t know what it is about Busy Signal, but it’s pretty hard for him to do wrong in my book. Even that “Suavamente” refix on D.O.B. grew on me after a couple spins. I mean, he’s one of the only artistes that regularly uses autotune that I can actually say I like. He can also release “a complete pop mixtape,” as our homegirl Erin Hansen called it, with DJ “We Da Best!” Khaled, Diddy adlibs and all, and I’ll still bump it. As a matter of fact, I think it’s a pretty dope mix of some of his most recent hits and new refixes of recent top 40 jams. It’s fun to hear Busy over pop riddims. You already know the songs, because they’ve been driven into your brain like a rusty metal stake by Clear Channel’s mighty hammer of death. But now, they’re actually enjoyable. Busy even makes that shitty ass Rihanna and Eminem song sound bearable. I never thought that could happen. Of course, a XXX-rated Busy remix of “All I Do Is Win” is in there too. New Busy Signal Album Out July 13th!!!

Busy Signal is crazy. He’s crazy talented, crazy versatile, and he’s crazy prolific. Throughout the past year or so, Busy has dropped so many hot tracks that he could have probably put out a double album. Instead, Busy’s third album, D.O.B., which drops on Wednesday, only has like three songs you’ve heard before and about a dozen all new tracks. No doubt, he gets his name from being so damn busy, but shit. He’s like the James Brown of dancehall or something. Here are two new tracks that you probably haven’t heard before that will be featured on the album. Di Genius kills the beat on this first track, “How U Bad Suh,” on some crazy techno dancehall madness. I’m feelin it. Download audio file (Busy_Signal-How_U_Bad_Suh.mp3)

The next track, “Summn’ A Guh Gwan,” features Alliance crew leader Bounty Killer, and it also comes with a video. Listening to the two go so hard on this track together, Bounty’s influence on Busy becomes pretty clear. I never really took notice of how similar Busy and Bounty sounded, but I guess it makes sense. Busy’s voice is definitely his own, but the stylistic similarities are there. Anyway, keep an eye out for other Alliance crew cameos in the video.

Guess who wins. This is definitely the most unexpected reggae video of the year thus far. VP Records all-star Busy Signal gets his security guard sing-jay on and manages to come out on top while playing the humble. Hip-hop artists could learn a thing or two from this. Conversely, ladies could learn a thing or two from the video vixens that he selects.

It’s Sunday, and without trying to push spirituality on anybody, I know personally that I like a little praise and worship music on days like this. A little, jump up and shout music, if you will. Gospel does the trick sometimes, but since I’m Bahamian, I don’t mind something with a Caribbean sound to it as well. “I am Blessed” by Mr. Vegas does it for me every time. The fact that Busy Signal has a gospel track as well is interesting.
