This Sunday, Last Night’s Mixtape and Red Eye are hosting a party at Moe Bar to celebrate and wrap-up a busy busy weekend. This weekend is the Blue Scholars’ Double Feature weekend, with two shows from our boys in blue, and featuring many of the folks you’ve seen written about right here on LxNxM, including Das Racist, Bambu, Macklemore and your boy DV One, among others.
To send the weekend off with a bang, we’re throwing a party with some of our favorite selectors: the File Jerks, DJ WD4D, and LxNxM’s own Tang and Toast. Plus, some secret surprise guests – with so many folks in town, there’s no telling just who might get on the tables.
We’re also releasing the second installment of the LxNxM mixtape series that night, and we’ll have free physical copies for the first 50 or so people in the door.

That guy DV One. He’s giving 2010 no rest. On this, the first day of the new year, DV dropped an epic roots reggae mix, replete (yes, replete) with gone fire from the likes of U Roy, the Congos, Linton Kwesi Johnson and many many more.
Rewind the goodness.
Toby Fresh, aka DJ DV One is official. Like official official. Like Rock Steady Crew status official. DV’s the guy you can count on to turn a party into a throwdown, and dude can also get down on the dancefloor if you ask him nicely (or so I hear).
But the real purpose for this post isn’t to extoll the man himself (though hell, it’s done, eff it). Rather, it’s to shout out his absolutely A+ mixtape series that he’s been dropping on the unsuspecting public for a minute now. Every other Monday, there’s a fresh new compiliation with a different theme, and so far we haven’t been disappointed. They run the gamut, from more convention (Biggie) to conceptual (the workout tape – no, not THAT workout, Mister West).
You can download a couple of our favorites here, and you can get the rest at the man’s website. Or just sign up for the email list, and they’ll pop right into your inbox. That easy.
