Daaaaang… it’s the last day of summer, y’all! Glad the sun came out to show some love today here in Seatown. But still, if you’re at all like me, you probably wouldn’t mind a little more warmth in the days to come. So, here’s Fatima‘s recently released video for “Warm Eyes,” from her March 2010 EP on Eglo Records, Mind Travellin’. This song has that warm, mellowed-out, last days of summer kinda feel, and its produced by noneother than the funkiest gangster in all of Los Angeles, Dam-Funk. Enjoy, amigos.
It’s almost painful to let this one out of the bag, but it’s too good to keep hidden away. FunkinEven is British producer Stevie-J, signed to London’s upstart space funk label Eglo Records. You may remember Eglo from the jammy Soul Glo, by Fatima, a track that was produced by the guy FunkinEven himself. It was/is filthy.
Well good news, there’s a short EP of FunkinEven production now floating around these webs. It’s titled “Kleer” and features Fatima again on two of the tracks. It’s on some neck-breaking Dam Funk mixed with Sa-Ra business, and earns the official LxNxM cosign. Download it below, and also make sure to get the most Last Night’s Mixtape, Volume 2, featuring some similar throwdowns.
All the better for getting your spacey trip-out on, my dear. This is a serious dose of future funk from the UK. On the Mind Travelin EP, Fatima gets it in over production by Dam Funk, Veebeeo and Soul Glo’s producer Funkineven – and in fact, the EP itself is a split with Dam Funk himself. This is one you’ve got to let wash over you…
