Damn! Mix Master Mike calls in a dirty, dirty dubstep “combat strike”. The self proclaimed serial wax killer submits an onslaught of choice samples to his surgical scratching and mixing. Sure shot party-rock factor high. Face melt threat level – red. ‘Nuff  sed. Click here to download Napalm Rockets.

I know your neck must still be hurting from that WD4D mixclusive Toast dropped on you yesterday, but I just found this BTS Radio mix and had to share.  This time it’s a selector set by London’s own Dego, who, according to BTS, is pretty much the fucking man:

A founding member of 4Hero, Dego is a true original and living legend. A chameleon with it comes to production, Dego has taken hand in influencing and spearheading new styles and movements ranging from Jungle, Drum & Bass, Broken Beat, Hip-Hop and Soul. With aliases and projects like Tek 9, Jacob’s Optical Stairway, DKD and Silhouette Brown among countless others, he’s solidified his place as a master of music.

I’m warning you now, don’t hurt yourself!  Nod your head at your own risk.

Good evening fair LxNxM denizens.   In addition to being a prolific local beatmaker, WD40 also holds down a nightly  called Grey Area a the local bar/artspace Grey Gallery. If experimentaldubglitchbreakhopstep is what you seek – or if it sounds compelling Grey area is the spot.

Here is the first ever Grey Area Podcast to give you taste of what you might hear. Kicking it off with resident blapster Dead Noise and a bunch of his original tracks, mixed with some of his favorite tunes of the day. Rounding things out, Ill Cosby (Car/Crash/Set) brings a fine selection of glitchy, wonky sounds from the future!

If you can make it out to Grey Area this Friday, Feb.12 – you can catch LxNxM’s very own Toast and Tang on the decks as special guests. Peace.

Toronto natives and Orlando residents Dow Jones and Alex G, aka the South Rakkas Crew, bring that next level reggae sound like no one else can on their latest all-purpose party mixtape album, The Stimulus Package (right click, save as), featuring vocals from Deerhoof, Bounty Killa, Serocee, Killa Queenz, Lady Chann, Rage, Capleton, Grafton Primary, MC GI, Lei Di Dai, Mr Agony, Mr Easy and Lexie Lee.  This mixtape is blazing hot and fresh off the presses, so I don’t have a tracklist for you yet.

Update:  Mad Decent dropped the full Stimulus Package album today.  The above link is for the condensed 35-minute mixtape version, which contains some stuff that’s not on the album, that Dow Jones dropped on Twitter last night.  Download the full album here.

It’s no secret that Swedish band Little Dragon is amidst a powerful U.S. tour. There’s a general feeling around the country that the talented intergalactic-electro-soul four piece is having a breakout year thanks to their sophomore album, Machine Dreams. It’s not like their self-titled debut wasn’t strong, but as always, most American audiences are coming late to the party. Regardless of that, Washington D.C.’s Supa Qool DJ Uncle Q just put together a mix that feels right on time with some rare songs, unreleased tracks, and guest spots featuring Little Dragon’s lead singer, Yukimi Nagano. And let’s face it, as awesome as Little Dragon is, it’s Nagano’s alluring vocals and singular presence that initially draws people to the band in the first place. We’re not nearly as intrigued about the three Swedes playing behind her, so let’s just get that fact out of the way.

I could write a ton more about her; how awesome her Seattle appearance was here a week ago, and how amazing it was to see a woman that channels Bjork, M.I.A., Grace Jones, and Nico on stage while still managing to just be herself, but I’d rather let the music speak for itself. You can download the project here, or if you’d rather listen first, and then download, hit up The Couch Sessions.

French beat maker dÉbruit is about to drop a new EP, Spatio Temporel, on December 7th.  I must admit, this guy is new to me – apparently, he’s been killin it for a minute now in Europe.  But if what I continue to hear sounds like these gems here, especially “Nigeria What?,” you can put me in the “big fan” category.

Spatio Temporel is a diverse and engaging journey through dÉbruit’s incredible array of rhythms and influences. Armed with his synths he’s takes his beats to Africa via LA, France, Persia and the future. Combining African Yoruba, Nigerian Highlife, Persian Funk, Congolese Electronics, Vocoded Ouest Coast vocals and international Thoroughbred Synths with dÉbruit’s jack-knifing riddims, booby trapped syncopation and bass heavy collisions.

The other day, I was at my buddy Michael’s apartment and he was playing some music that caught my attention.  He said it was the new Basement Jaxx album.  Curious, I went home and looked it up a few days later.  I’ve never really been a fan of Basement Jaxx, but I’ve always respected what they do.  While I’m still not a big fan, there are definitely some songs that I enjoy on the new album, Scars, which came out late September 2009.

This track is my favorite on the album.  No doubt, Santigold kills the beat.  But the beat is filthy in its own right.  It’s a great collabo.  Which is why, even though I posted a link to the album above, this post is really about “Saga.”
