Ah hell yeah! This is a mixtape we can really get behind! Top three reasons this mix is the shit:

1) It comes to us courtesy of the homies over at Emayo Cutz, who are holding down the cumbia scene like bosses of all bosses.

2) Arizona is fucking up people’s lives right now, and any way we can give that a little more light is good.

3) The mix is damned hot. The last Telesforo mix we put up here was a banger, and this is no different. Good shit out of Guadalajara!

And yes, there’s a lot of cursing in this post, but dammit, the coffee’s got my blood on fire!

Via the homies Joelito and El Hijo de la Cumbia, of label/blog/international movement Emayo Cutz, comes a new mix from Guadalajara-based DJ Telesforo. The man himself (who, rumor has it, is always shirtless, hence the pic to the left) describes the mix, titled Tsunami Sonidero, as “fresh like fish,” which is about as good a description as anything.

I mean, hell, the thing starts off with a surf version of Hava Nagila. Gotta love that. Check it out, download it, get some sun on your skin.

Not that today isn’t great or anything. I mean, who doesn’t love the first monday back on the grind after a week of food, drink, family and old friends? Hm. Seems I’m in need of some good soul stirring stuff – first DV’s roots mix, and now I’m feeling the need to put up another reggae mix, this one courtesy of the homies over at Emayo Cutz.

The mix: Full Confidence, Volume 2, mixed by DJ Stepwise – fresh out of Buenos Aires, Argentina – and hosted by London born and JA based Chukki Starr.

If you’re not up on Emayo Cutz, they’re the dudes consistently bringing the cumbia styles from South America to Europe. Their taste is, shall we say, quality. And this is the first reggae mix they’ve put up on their blog, which means it’s goodness.

Of the various camps responsible for the global cumbia surge (no Iraq), none has been more at the forefront than the Emayo Cutz crew. Joelito, one third of the crew (along with El Hijo de la Cumbia and Rebenga), just shot this Busy Signal remix into the LxNxM inbox (lastnightsmixtape@gmail.com if you aren’t knowing), and it is fiery. It’s high paced, bassy, and not for the faint of heart. Download it, turn it up, and let it rip.
