These are the two best remixes I’ve heard of the popular G.O.O.D. Music single:

Hudson Mohawke – “Lambo Furnace”

Salva and RL Grime – “Mercy” remix

TNGHT, comprised of LNM favorites Lunice and Hudson Mowhawke, drops their self-titled EP June 23/24 on Warp and LuckyMe. I’ve been looking forward to this collabo project since reading about their debut at SXSW a few months ago. The preview sounds like the wait is going to be well worth it.

I hope that these dudes’ tunes don’t get lost in all the “trap” hype that’s been brewing on the internet. That would be a shame. These guys have definitely been on some next level shit for a minute now, and that should be recognized.

It seems the formula that Hudson Mohawake used to come up with the tracks on his latest EP, Satin Panthers, isn’t very different from the one he used when making his debut LP, Butter: heavy, dark synths + high pitched squeals/bells/vocal samples + syncopated drums = glitchy, hip hop-tinged electro bangers. Really, the only difference is that everything seems a little bit more polished and well thought out on this project. And that’s fine with me. Krieg might disagree, but I think this EP might be his best work so far.

Shouts to Hudson Mohawke for streaming his new EP for free via YouTube in it’s entirety. Preorder it on itunes, or wait til August 1st when it is officially released and buy it everywhere else.

late pass: stereogum premiered the video for recently-featured jamie woon track “lady luck.” it’s good, and the song is still a stand-out. what is more interesting to me is this hudson mohawke’s “schmink wolf re-fix” of the track, which goes hard. enjoy:

HudMo recently remixed the Jodeci classic Freek’n You and put it out on the internet for all to enjoy.   The release of this free track marks the launch of his Pegasus Rising UK Tour.  While I will not be in the UK to enjoy any of those shows, and he will not be stopping through Seattle on his mini US tour this month, I still appreciate the new song.

Also, peep the  Valentines Slow Jams mix vol.3 HudMo dropped a couple weeks back.  It’s strictly 90s RnB jams and definitely worth a post-Valentines day listen or few.  And, since it’s along the same vein, if you’re not already familiar with Mr. Mohawke’s remix of Tweet’s Oops! you should get that here.

Finally, just in case you forgot how awesome the video for the original Freek’n You was:

Every freek’n night and every freek’n day
I wanna freek you baby in every freek’n way
Every freek’n day, every freek’n night
I wanna freek you girl
Your body’s so freek’n tight

Not too long ago, I hit y’all up with the Adult Swim ATL RMX album.  You might remember that there was supposed to be a 17th track on there that was nowhere to be found.  That mysterious track, Dam-Funk’s remix of Hollyweerd’s “Have you Ever Made Love to a Weirdo,” popped up the other day on a remix suite EP.  It’s a nice collection of remixes of the same song by some noteworthy producers, including 9th Wonder.

I would post a lot more about Hollyweerd, cuz they’re dope and they definitely deserve the shine, but I’ve been slackin on my bloggin.  I got some catching up to do, so I’ll let the music speak for itself.  I will say this, though, they’re on some ATLien next shit.  Oh yeah, check the album artwork out too – it’s also dope.

We sure love us some BBC Radio over here at Last Nights Mixtape.  We’re also big fans of Hudson Mohawke, the young Glaswegian who recently released what I would argue is one of the best albums of 2009, Butter.  That’s why it was really hard not to post this exquisite Hudson Mohawke mix featured on BBC Radio 1 last Friday.

Much like Hud Mo’s album, this 120-minute mix is also butter.  It features  tracks from his album, unreleased material, and a bunch of other jams straight from the man’s crates.  Stream it on BBC, or download here.
