Here’s the debut single from Hi-Life Sound System, a group that more people need to be watching out for over the upcoming months. It’s a relatively new group comprised of sometime solo artist Khingz and B-Flat and Crispy of Godspeed. Together, they’re making music that smashes any expectations based around their former work and simply creating “feel good” music and having fun. It’s a different sound but after years of grinding making socially conscious music and basically having to wear that hat, these dudes just want to have fun. Crispy kills on production and the rapping is fresh. Look out for their self-titled digital debut album dropping later this year.
As for now, just check out “Death of a Party.”
Once 1/2 of Abysinnian Creole, one of Seattle’s most beloved and down duos alongside Gabriel Teodros, The lyrically extraterrestrial Khingz has been traversing up and down the left coast of North America making music and being rad. Lately, the one and only Black Han Solo has been working on a live band+emcee project called Hi-Life Soundsystem , with some representatives from Seattle based Godspeed - album on the way.
As a prelude to the full course of the upcoming mixtape Khake and Khool Aid, Khingz blesses us with this summer mixtape Pho99, fresh and hot – add lime, plum sauce and Sriracha and your good to go, uyệt vời (great)!
A couple years ago, a somewhat cryptic group of musical type called The Luchnow Brides popped up onto the radar. A couple songs floated, including a remix with Seattle/Vancouver rap rapper Khingz. It was interesting. What should appear today, but a clutch of new songs by the same motley crew.
Now, first off, full disclosure – the Brides are friends of ours, close in fact, but they’ve kept their identities hidden and so we respect that. That said, we’re still going to write about these new songs!
It’s two complete sets, of songs, the first, This is the way we do, has some of the older material that was floating around back in the day. There are a couple remixes thrown in, the one with Khingz as well as a hoard touch up job by someone named D’Schoonmaneuver. Numero dos is newer and leans a little more to the synth.
On the whole, it’s electric gray stuff for a gray day. Enjoy!

Seatown’s own self-proclaimed “Blaq Han Solo,” and LxNxM’s big homie, Khingz, just dropped a new video for the track “Cloud City,” which is off his latest album, Cold Hearted in Cloud City.
Khingz is, without a doubt, one of the nicest MCs to come outta Seattle. If you haven’t already, go cop that CD now!
