you have two great chances to see one of electronic music’s rising stars tomorrow night. jacques greene–of the epic “motivation” flip, a key cog in the montreal beat scene, and luckyme and night slugs affiliate–will be pulling double duty opening for soon-to-be huge the xx as they rock the showbox and then breezing up the hill to wreck barboza for the official xx after party.

tickets for the xx show are long sold out (some jags on craigslist will gladly sell you one for $125 though), so your best chance is to hit up barboza, where tickets are still available for the low, low price of $8. djs about town j-justice and treasure, and blog homie sounds in silence will be opening up.

i have a confession to make: i still have no idea how to say nguzunguzu. either way, i’m stoked to see the LA-based duo tear down the house this weekend. blog pals secret weapon are putting on this bass-inflected show on saturday, march 10 at chop suey that also features SF-based salva. rounding out the bill are portland’s celoso and seattle’s ill cosby and the secret weapon himself, sounds in silence. and the price is right too – $8. hit up nguzunguzu’s soundcloud to remind yourself why you should be at chop suey this saturday, and stream salva’s remix of “wen uuu” below.

the stones throw twitter feed has been kind to me today, so i figured i’d share with the rest of you too. yesterday, they shared the super great madlib remix of j dilla’s “the $”. stream and download that below. then, just 20 minutes ago, they tweetered out about a new/unreleased dam-funk track, “beautiful creep”. i clicked over, and even better than the track, i saw that dam-funk will be playing here in seattle at nectar lounge in fremont on december 10th. this event is put on by the homies at reign city and members only, tickets are only $12, and i’ll see you there.

feeling bummed about the election results from last night? need some good news? well, did you know that stones throw-ers aloe blacc and mayer hawthorne are playing the emerald city this weekend? say what you will about our fucked political-corporate-media clusterfuck landscape, but good music will cure most any blues. aloe blacc will be at fremont’s nectar lounge this friday (11/5) with maya jupiter and dj 100proof, and tickets can be had here for only $10. soul singer extraordinaire mayer hawthorne (and backing band the county) will be at neumo’s on sunday (11/7). friends of LxNxM gordon voidwell are opening things up.
